One of the busiest travel times of the year—both in the air and on the road—is around Thanksgiving. But no worries, we’re here to help your travel feel much easier! Here are some Thanksgiving travel tips for your holidays this year.
Plan, Plan, Plan
Travelling will be so much easier if you plan ahead of time. Buying plane or train tickets ahead of time is a good idea, especially for Thanksgiving. Keep an eye out for deals, which can pop up at random times.
The lighter you pack, the easier navigating the airport will be. Checking bags can take much longer than bringing a carry-on. Try to fit everything in your carry-on, but prepared to leave it planeside as the airline might have to store it under the plane when overhead space lacks.
Pick Your Days Carefully
The day before and the weekend after Thanksgiving are the busiest travel days of the year. Roads get more crowded and airline tickets get more expensive. So try to pick other travel days, like Tuesday to Monday.
If you’re roadtripping, bring maps in addition to your GPS. This will help you find different routes if you’re hitting traffic or construction.
